The Society for Human Resource Management CNMI Chapter is pleased to announce its annual conference, and this year’s theme is “HR: Navigating Through Change.”

The conference is bringing together a variety of speakers to give insight to prepare for the changes ahead of us. The purpose of the conference is to address the areas all businesses and HR professionals face with the changing workforce the CNMI will be going through since the implementation of the Federal Immigration Regulations.

The conference will be held at the Pacific Islands Club’s Charley’s Cabaret on Thursday, Dec. 22, from 8am to 3pm.

The conference will provide attendees the valuable opportunity to:

* Learn about how USERRA affects you as an employer for those employees in the U.S. Military;
* Learn how your company can take advantage of employment incentives and still save the company money with the Workforce Investment Agency;
* Find out how you can avoid liability when sending out e-mails;
* Find out how to encourage your working adults to get a higher degree of education so they can be better skilled at their jobs;
* Learn how to prepare yourself and your company with all the recent changes to immigration laws; and
* Ask questions and get answers from each of the presenters.

Speakers will include ESGR State Chair for the Guam/CNMI State Committee David J. Sablan; Edith Deleon Guerrero, Workforce Investment Agency Executive Director; Michael Ernest from the CNMI Attorney General’s Office; Frankie Eliptico and Joan Torres from the Northern Marianas College; and Bruce Mailman and Maya Kara of Mailman & Kara, LLC.

The conference includes handouts, refreshments, and lunch and the cost is $30 for SHRM members and $40 for non-members. Seats are limited, so reserve your seat by contacting Polly DLG Masga at 237-5122 or e-mail shrmnmichapter@gmail.com. (PR)
