The Commonwealth’s littlest ball players will continue to be mentored by some of most dedicated sports instructors in the Marianas as the Saipan Little League’s Tee-Ball program picks up where it left off with a second round of fundamentals in the field.

A host of older players, parents, and volunteers will make their way down to the American Memorial Park Baseball Field this Saturday from 9am to 11am, where they will give their time for the betterment of the next generation of CNMI All-Stars.

Before they will have the opportunity to travel oversees to represent the CNMI in the Major, Junior, Senior, or Big Leagues, the first-time players will be split into separate groups based on their age, divided into teams, and start playing regular games. According to league organizer Paul Baron, the first round of games for the youngest group is scheduled to end roughly at 10:30am depending upon temperature and level of activity, but there will still be plenty of playing time for the kids in the future.

So long as the weather cooperates with their schedule, organizers plan to continue hosting the program at the American Memorial Park the next four Saturdays at the same time.

Aside from Mother Nature, organizers also need help from the parents and volunteers to assist them with offering all of the participants in the program the best possible Baseball 101.

All parents sending their aspiring Derek Jeters and Coco Crisps to the morning of mentoring should send them equipped with a water bottle or cup so that they can take advantage of the water provided at the park. The players should also be sure to bring a baseball cap and sun lotion to protect from overexposure.
