Mayor, USDA to sponsor housing loan workshop
The Office of the Mayor of Saipan, in cooperation with the U.S. Department of Agricultural-Rural Development, is sponsoring a brief workshop to provide information for low-income homeowners who may qualify for low interest loans for grants for home repairs from USDA.
The first workshop will be conducted by a USDA representative and held on June 2, 2005, at 10am, at the Mayor’s Conference Room.
Low-income homeowners who need to make some home repairs can now apply for low interest loans for grants under the 504 Loan and Grant Program.
The objective of the program is to help very low-income owner occupants of modest single family homes make needed household repairs. Loan and grant funds are now available for repairs to improve or modernize a home, make it safer or more sanitary, remove health or safety hazards, or remodel a dwelling to make it accessible for individuals with disabilities.
Grant awards are also available for individuals who are 62 years of age or older.
If you are interested, stop by the Saipan Mayor’s Office, at the Afetna Building, Chalan Tun Thomas P. Sablan, in San Antonio during regular working hours for an application and to sign up for the informal workshop or call 234-6208/6280 for more information. There are only 20 seats available for the workshop.
