I want to express a deep appreciation to the House panel for recommending the passage of House Bill 14-27, which allows a $500 tax credit for teachers. Thank you to minority leader Heinz Hofschneider for sponsoring this bill for teachers. We teachers can use all the help we can get. I’m sure teachers will be looking forward to the final outcome of this bill.

On another money topic, teachers are also waiting for the Senate bill appropriating the unclaimed lottery funds to become law. Thank you Sen. Adriano and Sen. San Nicolas. Teachers are hopeful that both chambers will also expedite this bill, which is also badly needed.

The governor has been supporting teachers ever since he was elected and now the Legislature is really taking notice of teachers and trying to help, which is evident in the two pending bills that will help teachers. I’m sure teachers are taking note of this and for the sake of our children I hope the Board of Education officials will get it—Teachers are the ones on the frontline and we need funds for supplies just like the COE is asking for additional funds for her purposes.
