Top Pool Bar is intent in giving up-and-coming billiards players a break with its launching of an 8-ball competition for amateurs starting next week.

Manager Zheng Jian Qing said the competition, dubbed simply as the 8-Ball Amateur Tournament, will debut on May 13 and will be played from 7pm to 2am.

He said slots are limited to the first 16 players that register and tournament admission is free. The pool competition is open only to players 18 years old and above.

“We want to give beginners and players that don’t normally play in billiards tournaments a chance to shine. This is a good way of developing pool talent on Saipan,” said Zheng.

The winner of the all-amateur poolfest will received $50, while second and third place would take home a one-hour and 20-minute free pool gift certificate, respectively.

Top Pool Bar is located at the heart of Garapan and is as spacious as it is modern. It boasts of seven 9-1/2-by-5-foot tables usually found in venues for professional tournaments abroad.
