SKN dominated and won three of the four sets in Thursday’s World Organized Rocball action, juicing out Bwibwi at the Marianas High School Gymnasium, 38-25.

SKN jumped out to a quick start and set the tone for the entire game in the first set, pounding away for a 12-5 win.

The team continued to fire on all cylinders in the second set and worked to increase their cushion to double digits. After two sets of play, SKN was on the driver’s seat with a 15-point advantage, 26-11.

The Bwibwis, however, weren’t about to just let the match get out of hand and finally arrested their slump in the third set. Tito Laniyo, Peter Iginoef, and Darrel Moteiso prevented a blowout and spearheaded their squad to an 11-1 win to cut their deficit to just five points, 22-27.

But just as quickly as they heated up, the Bwibwis cooled off in the fourth set, allowing SKN to end the match, 11-3, and leave with the 13-point victory margin.

Danny Peter lead the winners and was named as the game’s heavy hitter after connecting for an ace and two kees for 6 points. Dior Jones also supported by finding the net on a goal, while Moteiso led Bwibwis with a goal.

SKN was not as fortunate earlier in the week, losing to Ochobu Tuesday afternoon.

Ochobu’s Graceful Fiden was on fire throughout the match and was named heavy hitter after smacking away for 10 points on two aces, two xunks, and a kee, leading Ochobu to a 52-37 victory.

Fiden and company had a strong challenge in the opening set but managed to score when they needed to pull out a 12-9 win.

Another respectable attack by SKN in the second set gave Ochobu a run fro their money, but it still wasn’t enough to break through as Ochobu fought off the charge and won, 14-8.

Ochobu continued to torment their opponents and made it three-for-three, taking the third set again by a slim margin, 14-10, and closed out the match by juicing out with a 12-10 win in the fourth set.

Ochobu’s Ichnis Kapwich was solid in supporting Fiden, hitting three aces and a kee for 8 points.

For his part, Jerry Saures did all he could for SKN, putting a hurt on the ball for two aces, two xunks, and a kee for 10 points.

Rocball games are played every lunchtime—12:30-1:10pm—at MHS.

The sport was first created by current MHS teacher James Feger in 1979. After a couple of years of experimenting, the sport evolved into a tournament in 1983 while Feger was teaching at Hopwood Junior High School.
