The CNMI will once again welcome media representatives from the Hong Kong and Guangzhou area on Jan. 11, 2005.

The various media include Cosmopolitan Magazine, Oriental Daily News, the Hong Kong Economic Times, Metropolis Daily and the Yangcheng Evening News. The group will be visiting Saipan, Tinian, and Rota during their stay and will participate in various activities, with emphasis on MVA’s “See My Marianas” campaign.

The Northern Marianas, as a travel destination, will receive more than $100,000 worth of exposure in greater China. The tour is made possible with support from Continental Airlines Hong Kong and the Marianas Visitors Authority’s members.

The government of the Northern Marianas recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding with China’s tourism officials. The signing allows the Marianas to receive great exposure in the Greater China area.

“Through the exposure the [Northern] Marianas will receive from the media, we will take advantage of the newly acquired MOU for the islands as an approved destination for travelers from China. The FAM tours that we have arranged from Hong Kong and Guangzhou are a part of the marketing strategy in place due the recent signing of the MOU. We expect that the media will provide optimum publicity at minimal cost to the MVA,” said MVA managing director Vicky Benavente.
