SINAPALO SCHOOL TO RESUME CLASSES
Sinapalo Elementary School classes will resume on Jan. 11, 2005
• Parents and guardians of students attending Sinapalo Elementary School are invited to attend the 2nd Quarter Parent Teacher Conference on Jan. 12, at 4:30-6:30pm.
• Sinapalo Elementary School’s monthly PTA meeting will be on Wednesday, Jan. 19, at the school cafeteria at 5:30pm.
RESUMPTION OF CLASSES AT KAGES, HOPWOOD
Reminder to all Kagman Elementary School and Hopwood Junior High School students/parents/guardians: Classes will resume on Jan. 11, 2005 after the holiday break.
TANAPAG SCHOOL PTA MEETING RESET
The Parents Teachers Association meeting for Tanapag Elementary School that is scheduled for every first Wednesday of the month will be rescheduled to Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2005 due to the school’s Christmas break. The meeting will be at 6pm at the campus cafeteria.
CHACHA RESUMPTION OF CLASSES
This is to inform all parents, guardians, students and the community that classes at Chacha Oceanview Junior High will resume on Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2005. If you have any questions or concerns call the school at 664-4103 or 664-4100.
NMC MATH PLACEMENT TEST
Jan. 6, 05 (Thursday) 10am to 12noon Room A-11 (NMC Campus)
Jan. 11, 05 (Tuesday) 10am to 12noon Room D-1 (NMC Campus)
Things you need to bring: Picture ID, pen/pencil, calculator (optional, may not be shared)
Acceptable picture ID’s (no ID-no test)
NMC Picture ID (needed to be entered into the system)
Drivers licenses, passport, other school picture ID, CNMI Immigration Card
No reservations: First come, first serve basis only. Limited seats available. No admittance to the testing room will be allowed after the starting time listed above. “Math placement slips are good for one year from test date and a placement test can only be taken once a year.”
SUMMER COLLEGE INTERNSHIPS AVAILABLE
The NMI Council for the Humanities wishes to advise the general public of the availability of federal internships for the summer of 2005.
The program, sponsored by the National Endowment for the Humanities, is open to college students entering their junior or senior years in the fall of 2005. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or foreign nationals who have been legal residents in the United States for at least three years. Non-U.S. residents of the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands are also eligible to participate in this program.
The NEH will provide interns $4,000 for 10 weeks of work in Washington, D.C.
The deadline for applications is Jan. 5, 2005. Interested individuals may submit their applications online at http://www.neh.gov/interns/guidelines.html. Questions about this intern program should be directed to the Internship Coordinator at internships@neh.gov.

Enroll your child now! Head Start provides children with activities that help them grow mentally, socially, emotionally, and physically. The Head Start staff recognize that, as parents, you are the first and most important teachers of your children. TWO SLOTS OPEN FOR APAICS FELLOWSHIP
Two fellowship slot for 2005-2006 are now open at the Asian Pacific American Institute for Congressional Studies in Washington, D.C.
Both begin on September 2005 through May 2006, according to a joint announcement issued by Saipan Mayor Juan Borja Tudela and the APAICS.
They fellowships are the George Aratani/Daniel K. Inouye Fellowship and the Anheuser-Busch/Frank Horton Fellowship. Both programs are designed to provide unique opportunities to two individuals who are committed to the Asian Pacific American communities. The prospective fellow must also be committed to pursuing careers in public service.
APAICS will provide $20,000 to cover travel costs, housing and personal expenses. Fellows will spend nine months in Washington, D.C., either in the office of a Congressional member, a Congressional committee or a federal agency.
The deadline for the submission of an application for both fellowship programs is Feb 15, 2005. Only one application is necessary to be considered to either of the two fellowship programs. Finalists will be notified by May of 2005.
The George Aratani/Daniel K. Inouye Fellowship is named after current Sen. Daniel K. Inouye of Hawaii who was a combat veteran of World War II, and who has served in the U.S. Congress for nearly 40 years.
The Anheuser-Busch/Frank Horton Fellowship, on the other hand, was established to honor former Rep. Frank Horton, who was instrumental for the national designation of May as Asian Pacific American Heritage Month.
