Thirty-three students of Li'l Hands Music School perform in “Christmas In Our Hearts” annual holiday recital last Dec. 4 at the SandCastle of Hyatt Regency Saipan. (Saipan Tribune) Li’l Hands School of Music’s “Christmas In Our Hearts” on Dec. 4 drew over 100 guests to the SandCastle of Hyatt Regency Saipan, made up mostly of family and friends of the 33 performers that took part in the yearly holiday recital of the former R.C. Sablan Music School.

The recital started off with piano solos performed by Li’l Hands’ early to late beginner level students. The pieces ranged from Rojan Nathan De Jesus’ Ode to Joy, to Maxine Rabago’s Santa Claus is Coming to Town, to Karissa Quichocho’s Pen-Pen De Sarapen.

It was followed by more piano solos and duets, among them Jan Matthew Millo’s Deck The Halls and Kalea Lou Borja and Kyla Monique Cabrera’s Jolly Old St. Nicholas.

“Christmas In Our Hearts” was capped off by piano solos and duets performed by the school’s early and late intermediate level students. These included Kelsey Conlon’s Jesus Above All Name, Vickie Abalin’s Moon River, and Abalin and Mary Grace Tiglao’s Pachelbel’s Canon.

In between piano performances, Li’l Hands’ Bulilits and Kiddos groups did song and dance numbers in colorful costumes.

Piano teacher Joyce Dimaun congratulated her pupils for the successful staging of the event. “It is with great pride and honor to see each student develop a promising talent, whether they learn to play a certain instrument, learn how to sing and dance, learn in their early years how to expand their horizons, and embrace music as part of their young lives,” she said.

She also thanked parents for nurturing and encouraging their children’s musical talents. “We appreciate the parents for instilling in their children the significance and joy of seeing budding talent emerge from many hours of hard work and diligence, and for welcoming music into their families.”

The event’s sponsors were 3Hi-Res Designs, Law Office of Ramon K. Quichocho, LLC, Taco Bell and KFC, Balloon Creations, Marianas Ice & Water Co., Marianas Business Plaza, Hyatt Regency Saipan, Pacific Postal and Western Union, and the Tan Siu Lin Foundation. (Saipan Tribune)
