Superior Court associate judge David A. Wiseman yesterday found probable cause to warrant the filing of charges against two suspected suppliers of methamphetamine or “ice.”

At a preliminary hearing, Wiseman determined that there is probable cause to believe that the crimes of trafficking of controlled substance, illegal possession of controlled substance, and resisting arrest were committed and that Jun Qing Chen and Yu Hua Wang may have committed the offenses.

Chen, 36, appeared with counsel, Stephen C. Woodruff. The 34-year-old Wang was with counsel, chief public defender Adam Hardwicke.

Chen and Wang were arrested last Dec. 5. Their bail has been set at $60,000 cash each.

Assistant attorney general Russell Lorfing called to the witness stand detective Dennis Reyes, who testified how they were able to buy $200 and $400 worth of “ice” from Cheng and Wang using a confidential source in two operations.

Reyes said that 4.45 gross grams of “ice” worth $7,000 was involved as they also recovered more “ice” from one of the suspects’ cars.

The detective said the suspects were uncooperative and resisted arrest when police tried to pull over their vehicles in Koblerville and San Antonio.

Cheng had told the court at the Dec. 6 hearing that he would sue for police brutality.

Wang, also known as Old Man, was also arrested in March 2010 for allegedly engaging in trafficking “ice.” The court subsequently dismissed the case after the government failed to give the results of the crime lab analysis to Wang and a co-defendant in that case.
