HANMI throws Christmas party for man’amko
Who says seniors can’t have fun? That was proven when Hotel Association in Northern Mariana Islands threw a Christmas lunch party for senior citizens at the Dai-Ichi Hotel Saipan Beach’s Hibiscus Hall on Wednesday.
The project—which is the association’s 10th Christmas celebration with the man’amko here on Saipan—was organized in cooperation with the Office of Aging headed by director Joseph Palacios.
The gathering was attended by 92 senior citizens who were dressed up in colorful Christmas outfits with beautiful mwar mwars complementing the occasion. A buffet of delectable dishes were served during lunch. The food was part of the contribution of each member hotel of HANMI.
A program was conducted to briefly present the officers who organized the event.
HANMI also donated $500 to the man’amko. Jesse Pangelinan accepted the check on behalf of his fellow senior members.
HANMI president Lynn Knight also extended her appreciation for the hotel members who contributed food for the occasion. This is.
Allied member Edward T. Salas and Palacios also spoke and conveyed Yuletide messages to the group. Palacios said that in the short time he has been involved with the project, he believes the tradition will continue to make the elderly happy during the holiday season.
“Businesses are up this year and it’s good to see business people giving something back for the community,” he said.
After the brief program, the man’amko showcased their fancy moves, with Pangelinan and his friends taking the stage and playing rock and roll music. Palacios did not escape and was dragged to the dance floor by the man’amko so he could show off his dance moves.
