A No Fat Rhyme for Holiday Time

for those going home and those already there
a minuscule tome, a pleasure to share
to help you enjoy this season so fair
a semantic alloy to read in your chair

enjoy those candy canes and treats to eat
when New Year arrives its back on your feet
for willful walking and other exercise
to take off those pounds we all despise

who cares for now? what smells so good?
it’s time for chow in the neighborhood
eating repeating and eating again
we will stop but who knows when

bifstek with smashed potatoes and gravy
gollai hagun suni and beans ala navy
kadun pika, kankong and mustard greens
fresh baked pumpkin pie now enters the scenes

sashimi, chachalon and fish head stew
birenghenas no ma lechi niyok with titiyas too
wonton soup, lumpia and sweet and sour pork
all flow down the gullet with chopstick or fork

more turkey and dressing and cranberry jelly
and fattening pastries to fill up your belly
for those who say humbug so sour and dour
try smiling and singing you’ll soon feel the power

remember those who are less fortunate than you
put yourself in their shoes and you’ll know what to do
well friends that’s all for now – I gave it a lick
have some holiday fun with or without St. Nick

adios todos hamyo yan suetti para pagu
may your plates be filled with bula bunelos dagu
Felis Pascua from fat jolly old me
