The Saipan Swim Club is reminding the public that its Jingle Bells 5K Fun Run will ring tonight.

The start of the 5-kilometer run is at 6pm at Garapan Fishing Base, right across Kristo Rai Church, and the finish line is at AJ’s Restaurant in Oleai. Participants would be treated to free refreshments at the finish.

First 200 registrants also get an event T-shirt. All participants will get jingle bells and a glow bracelet to run in. They are also eligible to win great raffle prizes during the awards ceremony after the race.

The kids from the SSC will also decorate the aid stations along the course to further liven up the Christmas spirit. Participants will also be asked to vote for their favorite aid stations during the awards ceremony.

“The senior, junior and blue team members of the Saipan Swim Club will decorate three pavilions along the course. So, please take a look as you go by, and vote for the best when you get to the finish. The winning group gets a pizza party. The kids and parents have put a lot of work into this, and we hope you enjoy it,” said Jingle Bells 5K Fun Run coordinator Betty Johnson.

Entry fee is $15 and will go to the SSC, which is preparing for their participation in the 2005 South Pacific Mini Games in Palau. Funds raised in the event will be used to defray the cost of the club’s off-island meets.

“This certainly a great way to kick off the holidays! Great exercise and great socialization,” said Johnson.

The Jingle Bells 5K Fun Run is being held in cooperation with the Marianas Visitors Authority.
