The Pacific Teacher Scholarship Fund received a $15,000 contribution from Bank of Hawaii.

The scholarship fund, created by Pacific Resources for Education and Learning, awards scholarships each year to teachers or teacher candidates who are in the process of completing an accredited preparation program.

PREL created the scholarship fund to increase the number of qualified teachers in the U.S.-affiliated Pacific.

Scholarship recipients must reside in American Samoa, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, the Federated States of Micronesia, Guam, the Republic of the Marshall Islands, or the Republic of Palau, and must be committed to teaching in this region.

PREL is an independent, nonprofit corporation that serves the education community in Hawaii, the U.S.-affiliated Pacific islands, the continental United States, and countries throughout the world.
