3D mini-fair postponed until further notice
The Drunk and Drugged Driving Prevention campaign mini fair, scheduled to take place this evening at the Garapan Fishing Base, has been postponed until further notice.
3D vice chair Rose T. Ada-Hocog said yesterday that the move was due to “reasons beyond our control.”
Activities, including the Road Side Plea at the Garapan basketball court area and Stride For Life march along the Beach Road Pathway, were also called off.
The 3D committee, however, urges motorists to join them in observing Lights on for Life Day today by turning on their headlights while traveling during the day in memory of all victims of drunk driving.
The community is also urged to leave a light on at home for the same cause.
Lights on for Life Day is a symbolic headlight observance designed to focus attention on impaired driving issues.
Other activities throughout the month, which has been declared by Gov. Juan N. Babauta as Drunk and Drugged Driving Prevention Month, include Santa Claus visits to schools, scheduled presentations, and road side pleas, among others.
More than 16,000 people die every year nationwide due to alcohol or drug related crashes. One person dies every 33 minutes and another injured every two minutes.
