Rota workshops on noni, da’ok today
How can CNMI farmers export high-value products to the world market? Find out how by attending a workshop conducted by Edgar Cocker, MBA at the Rota Campus of Northern Marianas College, to be held today, from 8:30am to 3pm.
Cocker will teach the science and processing of edible and essential oils. The focus will be on oils from the indigenous da’ok tree, coconuts and used cooking oil. Later that day you will learn how to barcode your products for efficient export to the world.

ChaCha Oceanview PTSA meeting today
The ChaCha Oceanview Junior High School will be having its 2nd Parent Teacher Student Association meeting for school year 2004-2005 today, Dec. 9, at 6pm, at the school’s cafeteria. All parents and legal guardian are encouraged to attend this important meeting.

Dandan Elementary School Christmas rummage sale
Dandan Elementary will be holding a Christmas Rummage Sale at the school next Saturday, Dec. 11, 2004, from 8am to 12 noon. Tables will be rented to interested vendors. Contact the school at 664-5025 for more information or to reserve space.
Bicol Pavilion to be closed
This is to inform the general public that the Bicol Pavilion, located across Marianas High School and near the children’s playground, will be closed for renovation on Dec. 10 and 11, 2004.
NCEES examination set
The Board of Professional Licensing wishes to inform the general public that it would be giving the National Council of Examiners for engineering and surveying (NCEES) principles and practice of engineering examination (civil, structural, electrical, and mechanical) professional land surveying examination on Friday, April 15, 2005; and the fundamentals of engineering and fundamentals of land surveying examination on Saturday, April 16, 2005.
Applications to take the examinations must be submitted to the Board of Professional Licensing Office no later than Jan. 1, 2005.

Sobriety checkpoints on Rota set
The Department of Public Safety on Rota will be conducting three sobriety checkpoints at different sites.
The first set up will be on Dec. 11, 2004, at the San Francisco Highway, Sinapalo 3, between the southern entrance to Sinapalo 2 and Coral Pit. It will last from 7pm until about 8:15pm.
The second will be setup will be on the same day at the San Francisco Highway, Teteto, from the northern end of the pavilion to the southern end of Teteto beach. It will be operational at approximately 9:15pm for 75 minutes and will be terminated at about 10:30pm.
The third will be set up at San Francisco Highway, Ugis from Saligai area to Rota Cave Museum. It will be operational at approximately 11:30pm, Dec. 11, for 75 minutes and will be terminated at about 12:45am, Dec. 12, 2004.
The checkpoints will be terminated if it begins to rain.
The vehicle stopped at the sobriety checkpoints will be determined based on traffic volume, i.e., one in every three vehicles, one in every five vehicles, and one in every 10 vehicles shall be stopped.
English placement test set
The Northern Marianas College will be conducting an English Placement Test on Jan. 6, 2005, at Room D-1, from 5pm to 8pm.
Test-takers should bring a valid photo ID and pencils.
There is a $25 fee for the English Placement Test that must be paid in advance at NMC’s Finance Office (Monday–Friday, 9am–4pm). Students will not be admitted to the testing room without proof of payment—a receipt for either the placement test fee or the NMC application fee. (Note: This $25 fee is applicable to the NMC application for all students.)
