Crime Stoppers seeks to solve six-year-old Bell Tower crime

Crime Stoppers is asking for assistance from the community for information leading to the arrest of those responsible for a homicide incident that occurred at the American Memorial Park Bell Tower six years ago.

NMI Crime Stoppers coordinator P02 Eric F. David said the crime occurred between the hours of 11pm Friday, June 12, 1998 and 6am, Saturday, June 13, 1998.

He said that, at about 6am of June 13, 1998, a male individual who was jogging along the pathway in the American Memorial Park near the Bell Tower saw a body lying face down in the drainage area.

Investigators determined that the body was that of a male juvenile whose identity was determined by his initials, D.A.S. The victim was also known as Jon Jon.

Further investigation showed that the victim had actually died from drowning as a result of lying face down in the drainage ditch.

It was learned that the victim, along with other friends, went to the Liberation Day Carnival on the night of Friday, June 12, 1998. The victim was last seen on the carnival grounds at approximately 11pm, Friday night, June 12, 1998.

The police did not indicate why they believe the incident is a homicide case.
