The CNMI community will get its chance to send personal best wishes to active duty troops throughout the world this holiday season.

The music concert Troop Fest 2004 slated for Dec. 23, 2004, aims to bring the community together in a show of support for CNMI active duty service members. The free concert at American Memorial Park will be compiled with personal messages from the community into a special video program to be distributed for free to all CNMI active duty service members.

“Troop Fest 2004 is going to be our chance as a community to let our own service members from the CNMI know that we’re thinking of them, we’re praying for them, and we believe in what they’re fighting for,” said Troop Fest 2004 chair Edward Manibusan, who is also the Civilian Aide to the Secretary of the Army. “Everyone who wants to show their support for our troops are invited to come to the free concert to be a part of this message.”

Local performers, as well as students from various schools, are being lined up to perform. Troop Fest 2004 is currently seeking corporate donations for the production of the concert and DVD.

Admission to the concert is free, and concert goers will also be allowed to make donations toward bringing the CNMI’s Company E Army Reserve soldiers home for leave prior to their deployment to Iraq. A portion of these donations will also go to a reputable organization to aid to Iraq children.

The concert will be held from 4pm to 9pm at American Memorial Park on Saipan. To make a donation or for more information, contact Governor’s Special Assistant for Special Projects Galvin Guerrero at 670-664-2213 or e-mail at galvin@itecnmi.com.
