Tips needed in Obyan theft incident
Crime Stoppers is asking for assistance from the community for information leading to the person or persons responsible for a burglary and theft incident that occurred at the Obyan Beach parking lot on Nov. 13, 2004.
On the said date, a group of divers left the parking lot and entered the water to go scuba diving at about 12:30pm.
At 1:10pm, they returned to their vehicles in the parking lot to secure their diving equipment when they discovered that their belongings had been stolen from their vehicles.
Among the items reported stolen were five digital cameras, military identification cards, five “carry on” type black bags, approximately $1,200 in U.S. currency, approximately 2,500 yen, a Palm Pilot 5, a diving log book valued at $300 and numerous MasterCard and Visa credit cards.
The crime has been dubbed as Crime Stopper’s Crime of the Week.
“This is a high value and high profile case and Crime Stoppers needs information to provide to law enforcement in hopes of getting it solved,” the group said in a statement.
