Federal authorities took custody of four persons who were accused of conspiring to traffic illegal drugs into Guam.

Two of the defendants yielded more than 350 grams of methamphetamine hydrochloride, commonly known as “ice,” which were found inside prophylactics hidden inside their pants.

The U.S. District Court imposed no bail on defendants Steve Kim, Sang Mee Chun, Young Ju Kwon, and Jae Young Park.

In a complaint filed with the court, Ray M. Renguul, an agent for the Drug Enforcement Administration/CNMI Task Force, said Kwon and Park were about to leave for Guam when task force agents introduced themselves to the two defendants at the Saipan International Airport last Tuesday.

Later, the agents frisked the two defendants and discovered on each of them a condom containing ice. The defendant hid the condoms inside their pants.

Renguul said Kwon yielded 172 grams of ice, while Park yielded 180 grams.

The defendants became the subject of surveillance by the task force beginning Monday when Guam’s DEA office informed it about the defendants’ alleged drug smuggling plan.

Chun, Kwon and Park arrived on Saipan that day from Seoul, Korea, while Kim also came to the island from Guam on the same day.
