Defending champion Visminda-Country House and three-time titlist SIP-Verizon shoot for all the marbles at 6pm tomorrow night when both powerhouse clubs collide for Game 2 of the 2004 UFO-San Miguel Cup finals at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium.

SIP was able to force a second and deciding game after nipping Visminda 106-99 in overtime last Sunday. The loss snapped the Country House-sponsored team’s nine-game winning streak but more importantly negated its twice-to-beat advantage in the series.

Momentum is definitely on the side of SIP and playing-coach Rick Alegre will once again rely on his cadre of young guns led by Game 1 hero Jason Amado, last year’s Rookie of the Year James Villacrusis, outside bomber Jester Garcia and utility man Peter Mendiola.

Alegre must also draw inspired games from his frontline made up of ex-national player Edsel Mendoza, bull-strong Leo Factor and promising rookie Junar Arconado.

Denied a perfect season, Visminda must nonetheless rebound from the heartbreaking loss and keep its date with destiny—even though it would be late by six days.

Coach Boy Garcia will again call on veterans Dado Vistal and Ed Cosino to once again lead the team to the Promised Land with support from gunners Banjo Basila and Bing Marasigan and power players Emil De Belen and Danny Bicera. Garcia must also get a more inspired game from Jawn Joyner, who was bottled up by SIP the last time out.

Immediately after the game, organizers will hand out the championship and runner-up trophies together with the finals MVP award.

Organizers will also once again be charging a $1 entrance fee for the championship. Exempted are players from Visminda and SIP, awardees, dignitaries and children below the age of 12. Proceeds from the fundraising will go to the maintenance of the gym. Ticket holders also get a chance to win in a raffle.
