SSHS alumnus completes US Army training
The U.S. Army’s Company C, 1st Battalion, 48th Infantry Regiment out of Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri graduated over 168 new soldiers in the U.S. Army on Oct. 7, and among the newly-sworn soldiers was PFC Gerana Lynn Teregeyo of Saipan.
Teregeyo is a former Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps battalion commander and a graduate of Saipan Southern High School. She successfully completed and braved nine weeks of intensive military, academic, and physical training to become a soldier in the U.S. Army.
Teregeyo also earned a Sharpshooter Marksmanship Medal during training.
Teregeyo is the daughter of Geraldine Sablan Teregeyo and granddaughter of Joaquin and Ana Sablan Teregeyo of Dan Dan, Saipan.
On hand to witness the ceremony were her grandparents and representing CNMI Resident Rep. Pedro A. Tenorio was Walter Villagomez. Tenorio was in Honolulu attending the deployment ceremony of CNMI Army Reservists.
While at Saipan Southern High School, Teregeyo was inspired and became interested early on in starting a future and career in the military field.
“My earlier experience as JROTC battalion commander fully prepared me to enter the Army with the leadership, confidence and the knowledge to complete my training” said Teregeyo. “Most importantly, I have to give credit to my family, friends, and to Sgt. Juan King at Saipan Southern for their advice and encouragement.”
“I am very proud of PFC Teregeyo for her sense of duty, courage and commitment to serve in our nation’s Army. PFC Teregeyo joins the ranks of many of our dedicated men and women from the Northern Marianas who help to protect and guard our American way of life” said Tenorio.
Upon graduation, Teregeyo will further her training as a Transportation Specialist at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. (PR)
