Ghasias shows no brotherly love toward the Mwaliyas
With the exception of a closely contested third set that went into extra points, the Ghasias Brothers delivered a first class beat down on Mwaliyas at the Marianas High School Gymnasium on Monday, to reaffirm their dominance over all in the World Organized Rocball Interscholastic and Community League.
Led by “Captain Kees” Freddy Pelisamen, the Brothers unleashed a world of hurt upon the unsuspecting Mwaliyas via a 69-29 bruising in their seventh game of the year. The smack down began in the first set when the Brothers opened up a can on the Mwaliyas to beat them 17-6.
Every time the Mwaliyas squad started to get some offense generated, they ended up losing points. That trend continued in the second set, as the Mwaliyas suffered a demoralizing 16-1 shellacking.
Things were beginning to get ugly, as the Mwaliyas were down 33-7 after two, and were it not for someone reminding the Ghasias Brothers that October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, they may have gotten worse.
In the third set, Mwaliyas either brushed the dirt off from their shoulders and bounced back to batter the Brothers, 18-16, or Ghasias just let the youngsters have a taste of victory.
Whichever the case, the overall score was 51-23 before the fourth ands final set, and the Ghasias Brothers was about to take the Mwaliyas to school again before the resumption of classes. A quick set saw Ghasias Brothers walk away from the fray with the 18-6 advantage, and a convincing overall score of 69-29.
With the win, the Ghasias Brothers improved their record to 4-0, and unless they drop a game to the Local Boys or the Bwii Bwii’s, they are assured of a first place finish.
On the other side of the court, Mwaliyas played a bonus seventh game, but slipped into sixth place in the seven-team league with a record of 2-5.
Overall, Mwaliyas scored a goal, tallied an ace, a xunk, and five kees, compared to a monster eight aces, 14 kees, two xunks, and a goal by the Ghasias Brothers.
The Brothers also had the game’s standout, as Captain Kees was named the Heavy Hitter, scoring eight kees and a pair of aces to lead his team in the victory with 20 points.
The action of Rocball continues tomorrow afternoon at MHS court, when Ghasias takes on the Bwii Bwii. All of the aces, xunks, kees, and goals return under the supervision of the game’s creator Jim Feger at 12:30pm.
