Saipan Mayor Juan B. Tudela and the Saipan Higher Education Financial Assistance board will be awarding SHEFA’s first recipients of academic performance scholars this month. A student must garner a minimum grade point average of 3.5 out of 4.0 grade point average.

The academic performance scholarship comes following SHEFA’s grant-in-aid awards to qualified Saipan students last month. Approximately 200 students attending US accredited colleges and universities on Saipan and abroad have availed of the SHEFA financial assistance for Fall 2004.

The Spring 2005 application dateline looms ahead on Dec. 1, 2004.

To qualify for SHEFA’s academic performance scholarship a student must be a bona fide resident of Saipan, including the Northern Islands. One must be enrolled in a U.S. accredited college or university on full-time status and not taking any remedial classes. Like everyone else, a student must be a U.S. citizen or a U.S. permanent resident.
