Only a week remains for those who have yet to apply for federal and state disaster assistance.

Individuals and business owners affected by Supertyphoon Chaba should call and apply as soon as possible by calling the FEMA toll-free number, 1-800-621-FEMA (3362). The number for those with hearing or speech impairment is TTY 1-800-462-7585. Both numbers are operational from 7am to 8pm seven days a week.

“Don’t assume you aren’t eligible for assistance,” said Governor’s Authorized Representative Vicky Villagomez. “We don’t want to miss anyone who has been affected by the typhoon who may need help in the recovery process.”

Even if you have insurance, you may still be eligible for disaster assistance for underinsured losses. However, in order to complete an application, FEMA will need the resident’s insurance settlement information to avoid any duplication of benefits.

Applications may be updated and will continue to be processed after the Oct. 27 deadline, but no additional applications for assistance will be accepted.
