More delays for SML and SSA
While the players, coaches, and fans were ready for the second round of action in the fall edition of the Saipan Major League to get underway this past weekend, Mother Nature was not.
Soggy grass and a muddy diamond at Francisco M. Palacios baseball field made for conditions that were unplayable for the island’s fall ballers.
Though no dates have been announced as of yet, the games between the defending champion Hustlers and the Kautz Glass Glazers at 10am and the Pirates and the North Stars at 2pm will be rescheduled for a later dater.
The weather has also caused several setbacks in the 2004 Men’s Island Wide Fast Pitch and Slow Pitch Softball Leagues. Both of the seasons were to have been completed by now, and the gray skies and wet infields are doing nothing to help speed the process along.
When the sun does decide to come out and dry up the muck, local sports fans will reap the benefits of being able to see a large number of events in a compressed amount of time.
If there is enough sunshine today, the men of the slow-pitch league will take the field at the Oleai Sports Complex at 6pm, while the men of the fast-pitch league would get back to action tomorrow evening at the same time.
