Capricciosa got the satisfaction of preparing its pizza and eating it too when it hoisted the championship of the 2004 Inter-Restaurant Basketball League.

It did so at the expense of next door neighbor Country House Thursday at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium. Contributing in the victory were stalwarts Gyles Ruluked, Randy Arconado, Ed Arriola and Reynaldo “Badong’ Camacho.

In other headlines last week, Saipan swimmers Dean Palacios and Nina Mosley certainly impressed when they recorded 12 Life Time Bests or LTBs out of 13 events in the Short Course World Championships in Indianapolis, Indiana.

In the Commonwealth Football League, Shell Chiefs nailed their third straight win and second over Verizon Nitro at the CPA Airport Field.

The Fall edition of the Saipan Major League, meanwhile, saw the Pirates came away with a couple of wins Sunday and Monday. North Stars and Hustlers also notched wins in the other half of the doubleheaders.

The 2004 Shell-Telesource Open also kicked off last Monday at the American Memorial Park tennis courts with over 100 entries expected in the next two weeks.

Beach volleyball in the 6th Annual 4-Person Beach Volleyball League, the World Organized Rocball Interscholastic and Community League, fast pitch softball in the men’s island wide league and Rotary 18-and-under basketball also got going last week.
