[President Bush] performed excellently. I think that, like in the first debate, the second debate is all, in my opinion, about substance. It’s not about style. It’s about strong leadership. It’s about what the president has done both at home and abroad.

The president has consistently demonstrated that he can lead this country and he has all the leadership qualities. He is a man of courage. He is a man who is strong. That’s what we need to know in view of the world being so unsafe because of terrorism.

—Gov. Juan N. Babauta

Bush did better than the first debate. He performed better this time. In the first debate, Kerry had beaten him. I think Bush is better on the economic issues but Kerry is stronger on the foreign policy issues, that’s why he did better in the first debate.

It’s interesting that in the second debate, which is a different format, Bush improved. I think it’s because he [went on] without trying to portray Kerry as flip-flopping. He just focused on his candidacy.

Bush greatest weakness is Iraq, his administration’s handling of the war on terror, actions that are [perceived as] threats toward civil liberties.

Likewise, more violence in Iraq as we’re closing in on the elections may take a toll on Bush’s presidency. The two major issues now are economy and the war.

I wouldn’t go for either. President Bush rushed into war and I don’t believe in that, and John Kerry always takes back his words, so for the presidency I wouldn’t pick any of them.
—Shawn Davis

I think George Bush is very firm with his decisions and even though I don’t agree with the way he took the nation to war, I still don’t think I would be comfortable with Kerry running the show because he goes back and forth with his decisions.

—Damiana Lee

I believe in what Kerry is saying. I’m not too happy with the way Bush took the nation to war. It affected many people, and now the U.S. spends the most compared to other countries when it comes to the war in Iraq.

—Ferdinand Sayson

I agree with Kerry that Bush could’ve done better in addressing the war on terror. I like the way he explained himself in the debate and I think he will be able to handle things better.

—Richard Vuelta

I support Bush. Bush’s father was president before, and that’s why Bush should win the election. Bush will always stay strong in my eyes, even though some people say that Kerry was stronger in the debate. Bush’s father ran as president and everyone was happy, now Bush will take over and be like his father. He is already experienced and I think he is a good president.

—Gemma Fejeran

I’d go for Kerry. The negative things that Bush did by going to war without the United Nations is why my vote goes for Kerry.
