BOY INJURED AFTER BEING HIT BY CAR
A seven-year-old boy was hurt Wednesday afternoon after being hit by a pickup truck while attempting to cross a road along the Kagman III area.
The boy sustained scratches in his forehead, as well as below his right eye, nose, and both knees.
According to Department of Public Safety public information officer PO2 Eric F. David, medics dispatched to the scene transported the boy to the Commonwealth Health Center for treatment.
“An internal injury examination is forthcoming,” he said.
David said preliminary investigation indicated that a 1989 white Nissan pickup truck was traveling east in front of Moda Store when the boy ran across the street and got hit.
“The boy was struck on his right side, causing him to spin around several times before landing on the ground,” he said.
The vehicle was operated by Agida Pangelinan Natividad, who was not injured during the incident. David did not indicate if the motorist was found to be at fault.
DPS received the call reporting the incident at 2:04pm.
BSS RESCUES DISTRESSED VESSEL
Boating Safety Section officers rescued two individuals early Wednesday morning after their vessel was reportedly in distress off the shores of Managaha Island.
Department of Public Safety pubic information officer PO2 Eric F. David disclosed yesterday that 47-year-old Rizo Rasa and 37-year-old Eutermio Azacon Jr. were rescued and safely brought back to land.
Both victims sustained minor scratches on their legs.
David said DPS received a call reporting the incident at about 10:54pm Tuesday night. At midnight, BSS officers departed from the Smiling Cove Marina on board police vessel Zodiac II in response to the call. While responding, they where flagged down by the captain of another vessel, who informed them that the grounded vessel was located on the reef line just north of Managaha Island.
BSS officers responded to the area, only to find that the area was too shallow for any rescue attempt with their vessel.
“Boating officers returned to the marina and launched their jet skies and proceeded back to the grounded vessel,” David said.
