The Federal Emergency Management Agency and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands have announced new hours of operation for the Disaster Recovery Centers on the islands of Tinian and Rota beginning this weekend.

The centers will be open from 8am to 12pm on Saturdays, starting Oct. 9.

The Saipan Disaster Recovery Center, however, will maintain the current operating hours from 12pm to 4pmon Saturdays. These hours will be made permanent as long as the centers remain.

The centers will continue to operate from 8am to 6pm Mondays through Fridays, and will be closed on Sundays. Although the centers will be closed on Sundays, victims of Supertyphoon Chaba can still call the FEMA teleregistration number for assistance seven days a week.

The centers will continue to be staffed with representatives of federal and Commonwealth agencies who will provide information, give status reports and answer questions about the assistance available to individuals, families and businesses who suffered damages from Chaba.

If they haven’t done so yet, disaster victims are urged to start the application process by calling toll-free, 1-800-621-FEMA (1-800-621-3362). Those with hearing or speech impairments may call TTY 1-800-462-7585 to apply.
