Dolphins outclass Bill Bratzski’s at PIC
A second round of beach volleyball at the Pacific Islands Club featured convincing victories by the MHS Dolphins, Flush It!, Lambleezies, and Bend It Like Megan Thursday night, as the 6th Annual Miller 4-Person Beach Volleyball League returned for the final set of games for opening week.
The Dolphins of Marianas High School improved their record to 2-0 when they beat the Bill Bratzski’s with a broom, sweeping the BB’s 11-0, 11-5, and 11-5 in the first match of the night. The crew of college hopefuls is swimming through the competition with ease, and they have only lost one set out of their last six.
The Dolphins return to the sand to face the Dragon Flares next Thursday at 6pm, while the Bill Bratzski’s will sit idle until Tuesday, Oct. 12, when they face Bend It Like Megan at 8pm.
The second pair of teams that went hand-to-hand in the sand was Flush It! and the Clam Smackers. The Clams sent Flush It! swirling around in circles in the first set, as they whitewashed the flushed, 11-0. That was all of the abuse that the Flush It! squad was about to take that night, as the team rallied back to smack the Clams 11-3 and 11-1 in the next two sets.
Flush It!’s next match-up is with Machiganai! next Tuesday, Oct. 5, at 8pm, while the Clam Smackers have to wait until Thursday, Oct. 7, to try to smack Team Papalatung at 7pm.
The third match up was between the Sleezy Lambleezies and the Dragon Flares, and it belonged to the SL Express. The Lambleezies lambasted the Flares in another three set sweep by a total combined score of 33-13. The Sleezy Lambleezies upped their record to 2-0 to keep pace with the mighty Dolphins.
The Sleezy Lambleezies next match-up with Flush It! Thursday, Oct. 7, at 8pm, while the Dragon Flares will face the Dolphins on Tuesday, Oct. 5, at 6pm.
In the final match of the night, Bend It Like Megan broke off a little somethin’ somethin’ on the Bananas, sweeping the peels 11-9, 11-0, and 12-10 in straight sets.
The first set was close, and the third set was even closer, but the Bananas failed to show up for the second set to drop their overall record to 1-1.
The Megans will return to Bend It on Tuesday, Oct. 5, when they take on the 0-1 Esemuoel at 9pm, while the Bananas go ape earlier the same night against Team Papalatung at 7pm. Games are played Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6pm, 7pm, and 8pm through the end of the season on Thursday, June 13.
All the side-outs you can handle will be doled out again Tuesday night at the PIC. If you would like further information about the 6th Annual Miller 4-Person Beach Volleyball League, contact Jon, Evan, Dennis, or Nan by calling the SEA office at 235-6231 ext. 5147.
