BANMI 25-AND-UNDER MEETING TODAY

The Basketball Association of the Northern Marianas Islands 25-and-under Basketball League will have another organizational meeting at 5:30pm today at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium conference room.

Registration for the league is still open. All teams are required to submit necessary documents for age verification, as well as an entrance fee of $900 for teams who wish to have uniforms supplied by the league or $600 for teams who already have their own uniforms.

Players eligible to see action in the league are those whose 26th birthday does not predate the opening of the season. Team rosters should also be submitted as soon as possible and should include the players’ proof of age.

POWER GOLF CLUB SEPTEMBER ACE THIS SATURDAY

Power Golf Club is calling all members to come out and enjoy a round of golf and fun when it holds its September Ace of the Month Tournament this Saturday, Oct. 2, at the Marianas Country Club.

Tee off time is scheduled at 7:30am and players are asked to show up 30 minutes before for the check-in and pairings.

NMITFF SWITCHES MEET DATES

The Northern Marianas Islands Track and Field Federation has switched the dates for the Tinian Cross Country race and the Oceania Open and 18-and-under time trials.

Runners participating in the open cross-country meet in Tinian will see action on Oct. 23, Saturday, starting at 3pm at the Tinian Elementary School on Saturday. Entrants in the Oceania Open and 18-and-under time trials, on the other hand, will have their competition on Oct. 16, Saturday, 3pm at the Oleai Sports Complex.

MISA REVISES CALENDAR

The Marianas Interscholastic Sports Association has moved sports like flag football and softball up its events calendar.

According to MISA secretary Becky Covarrubias, flag football and softball has been rescheduled to start in the second quarter and will have its first playing date on Oct. 7, a Thursday.

ISLAND-WIDE VOLLEYBALL ON THE WAY

The Division of Sports and Recreation will kick off its 2004 Island-wide Volleyball League this coming October at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium.

Teams will be limited to a maximum of 15 players each and will be required to pay a $100 entrance fee. League organizers are looking to have men’s, women’s, and youth leagues in an effort to raise the overall skill level of volleyball on the island.

PACRIM TOURNEY BACK AGAIN

The Pacific Rim Youth Goodwill Tournament will be returning for its third installment later this year, as basketball and volleyball players from around the region will once again be competing at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium in Oleai.

Participants from the CNMI, Japan, the Federated States of Micronesia, the Marshall Islands, Hawaii, the Philippines, and the Republic of Belau are invited to take part in all of the scheduled festivities.

The tournament is scheduled to begin Saturday, November 20, continuing through the next Saturday, November 27.

All teams are encouraged to register early in either Division I (12-14 years old), or Division II (15-18 years old). Registration fee is $100 per team.
