The Buck Battalion shined during the 8th Annual Cadet JROTC Leadership Challenge (Mini Camp).

The cadet commanders and staff planned, organized, coordinated, and executed the challenges presented them during this camp. These included marksmanship training, introduction to rappelling, leadership reaction, and compass reading.

At the end of the required training the cadets were given time to prepare for the unit competition, which includes drill and ceremony, academic challenges, tap-out and marksmanship.

The results: the Alpha Company won the awards for marksmanship and drill and ceremony, while the Headquarters Company garnered the awards in academic challenge and tap-out.

The following day the Buck Battalion held a solid performance at the farewell ceremony of their Army instructor, MSG Juan C. Salas, who is leaving to fill the position of Senior Army Instructor at the Stallion Battalion on Tinian.

The Bucks said they were pleased to have CSM Doroteo Aguigui and SFC Damian as evaluators of the camp. Aguigui is the CNMI MSU JROTC Operations & Liaison Officer

“It was my pleasure to have had the opportunity to see this camp operations unfold before my eyes, performed magnificently by the Rota Bucks,” said Aguigui. “Indeed it was an inspiring and an exemplary job. Well done to the Rota Buck Battalion.”

The Rota Buck cadets also expressed their heartfelt appreciation to SGM Herman Atalig, Rota Buck Senior Army Instructor; and MSG Juan Salas, outgoing Rota Buck Army Instructor, for their dedicated hard work and continuous guidance given to the cadets in preparation for this outstanding cadet challenge event.
