Restaurant league Final Four tonight
Capricciosa and Jollibee players will finally see action on the hard court tonight when the semifinals of the 2004 Inter-Restaurant Basketball League gets going at last at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium.
The two protagonists jump at center court beginning at 11pm. On Friday, Oct. 1, it will be the turn of elimination round runner-up Angel Wings and Country House to contest the second finals seat.
The winners of the two Final Four encounters will advance to the best-of-three championship series, which will determine the champion of the 2004 IRBL season.
The finals will start next Monday, Oct. 4. Game 2 is set on Oct. 6, Wednesday, while Game 3, if needed, will be played on Oct. 8, Friday.
The start of the Final Four was originally scheduled last week but the unavailability of officials to call the ballgame and scheduling snafus at the gym resulted in the semifinals getting moved.
While Capricciosa already secured the Triple J Five-Star Wholesale pennant trophy, the more coveted IRBL Perpetual Cup for the overall champion is still up for grabs.
Other awards to be given out during the awards ceremony are the MVP trophy, spots in the Mythical Five, and the 3-point king award.
