GIRL TESTIFIES AGAINST SUSPECT

The alleged victim in the ongoing child molestation trial at the CNMI Superior Court positively identified the suspect, Joselito Castro, as the one that had committed the alleged crime last December.

According to the girl, Castro, who volunteered to bring her to her grandmother in Chalan Kanoa from San Antonio, stopped the car near the Post Office area and took advantage of her. She said she later told her mother about the incident.

Castro is charged in Superior Court for allegedly molesting the girl on Dec. 19, 2003.

Based on the previous testimony of the girl’s aunt and former babysitter, Lolita Catap, she was supposed to bring the girl to Chalan Kanoa but Castro volunteered to drop her off instead.

Catap said she agreed to the offer because she also had another errand to do.

Further, she said that she trusted Castro because he was a long-time family friend. (Liberty Dones)
