Wheelchair Foundation says thanks
The Wheelchair Foundation announced yesterday that the 280 wheelchairs donated to CNMI citizens have already been distributed on Saipan, Tinian, and Rota.
“Thank you to those in the community for your efforts in providing the names of the individuals that received the wheelchairs,” said Wheelchair Foundation local coordinator David Ayres.
Ayres credited the success of the equipment’s distribution to what he termed as the “tremendous support” of businesses and individuals in the community.
These include Paul Trombetta of Pacific Amusement Inc.; Tony Mosley of Verizon; Marian Aldan-Pierce of Duty Free Shops; Rotary Club of Saipan; Mike Schadeck, Roger, and Freddie of the East-West Rental Center; Michael Stewart, Ken, Castro, Bonso, Domingo, and Raul of AIC Construction; Bishop Camacho and parish priests; Nick Nicholson of the Rota Mayor’s Office; Francis Diaz of the Tinian San Jose Parish; Steve and Robert Marron; Ed Lieberman and his NMC RST students; CHC Maintenance and the professional medical staff; Liberty Dones of Saipan Tribune; Gemma Casas of Marianas Variety; Alex Sablan and employees of Saipan Shipping Co.; Cape Air; Jobie and Wayne of Marpac Inc.; and Mike Babauta of Pacific Trading Co.
“There are many others that helped in one way or another and the Wheelchair Foundation extends their appreciation to you,” said Ayres
Due to the heavy response, Ayres said another container of wheelchairs has been ordered and should be here in a few months. He urged people to look for an announcement in the papers.
“In the meantime, for those of you that were on a list and did not receive a wheelchair recently, you will be notified by phone about the first distribution, which will be only for you,” he said.
For others who are in need and were not able to receive a wheelchair, call Ayres at 322-2547 or cell 286-6100 to be placed on a new list.
