Saipan Lions Club launches recycling project
The Saipan Fil-American Lions Club has introduced a recycling program for the community.
“Our mission is to inform and educate all members of the community to start separation of our trash in a more efficient way to protect the environment for generations to come,” the group said in a statement.
Toward this end, the club said it set up a total of 15 colorful drums in five locations along Saipan’s beaches—Kilili Beach, Civic Center, 13 Fishermen’s Monument, San Jose and Pau Pau Beach—last Sept. 12. Each location has three drums and has been color-coded and marked with the color green for paper, yellow for plastic, glass and bottles, and blue for cans.
“We would like to thanks Mr. Tony Benavente, chief administrator of Division of Parks and Recreation, DLNR and Gov. Juan N. Babauta for their support in this recycling project,” the club said.
The recycling project is headed by project chair Jose Velarde, with the support for Lions Club members Ador Dimaano, Lions Club president (2004-2005); Jess Delos Santos, Mario Mayuga, Dannie Robles, Rommel Crisostomo, Jun Canillo, Roger Vales, Milo Orallo, Roger Talapian, Efren Cacdac, Pablo Bacud and Ron Cal.
