Edwin Taitano and Ben Norita carted the best scores in Power Golf Club’s Ace of the Month Tournament held last Sept. 4 at the Marianas Country Club.

Because of various reasons, the PGC only played its April and May tourneys early this month. But that didn’t stop Taitano and Norita from whipping out their best round of golf.

Making the most of his home course advantage, Taitano surprised the field with a net score of 3-under 69 to capture the April Ace. The golfer they dub The Equalizer fired a gross score of 93 but his handicap-24 assured Taitano of finishing atop the leader board.

Norita, for his part, came charging strong and came up two shots behind Taitano with his net score of 1-under 71. The score, however, proved enough to win him the May Ace title.

Norita, who played like Typhoon Chaba with his big swing and loud roar, came up with a gross score of 88. And with his handicap-17 his identical 44s on the front and back nines never looked better.

In the closest to the pin contest, Edward Kapileo put it real close on holes No. 7 and 15 leaving no more room or space for the rest. Holes No. 3 and 17 went to Gregorio Gamboa after becoming the only player to find the short grass on those holes. Incidentally, Gamboa also won the March Ace championship during a previous game with a net score of 5-under 67.

PGC will hold its June Ace of the Month Tournament this coming Saturday, Sept. 18, at the Lao Lao Bay Golf Resort west course. Check in time is at 7am and tee time is set 15 minutes later at 7:15am.
