PIC serves up fall volleyball season
After languishing for the past few months, volleyball players need not worry any longer because relief is on the way with the 6th Annual Four’s Beach Volleyball League on the sand courts behind the Pacific Islands Club.
Although the bumps, sets, and spikes will send the Mikasa to su casa in just a couple of weeks, the fun will get started with a “beginning of the season” banquet that will be highlighted by the team draft.
On Tuesday, Sept. 21, organizing officials will place the players who are registered and have paid onto teams via draft. The banquet is an important part of the roster making process, but it is an opportunity for the players to get to know each other, and another excuse to have some fun at the PIC.
Games will be played Tuesdays and Thursdays at 5:30pm to 10pm through the end of the roughly eight-week season, and although Mother Nature has a hand in making the weather, she won’t have any say in whether or not the games will be played. As with a majority of the sporting events hosted by the PIC, it’s game-on rain or shine.
Each team of seven players will be permitted four players on the court, with the stipulation that one female be on the court at all times. The entry fee for the season is $25 per player, and it drops to $20 if the player is a member of the Northern Marianas Islands Volleyball Association.
Aside from playing a season’s worth of volleyball for the entry fee, players will also receive a League T-shirt, $10 PIC Waterpark passes during the season, and discounts on all Pacific Trading products at the PIC while the league is in progress.
