Get in shape with yoga and Zumba at NMC
The Northern Marianas College through the Community Development Institute is offering short-term courses on kundalini yoga and Zumba.
Kundalini yoga is an ancient discipline designed to enhance overall physical and mental wellness. During this course, participants will learn how to do different yoga poses along with meditation and breathing techniques.
Zumba is a popular fitness program inspired by Latin dance. It is marketed as “an exhilarating, effective, easy-to-follow, Latin-inspired, calorie-burning dance fitness-party” (www.zumba.com). Zumba consists of various aerobic exercises that also tone and sculpt the body.
These courses are offered as part of the college’s mission to provide customized, continuing educational, professional development instruction, as well as personal enrichment opportunities in response to community needs.
The Kundalini Yoga course will begin on Saturday, April 28, 2012, and will continue every Saturday until the last day on June 23, 2012. The schedule is 9am to 10am at the NMC As Terlaje campus.
The Zumba course will begin on Friday, May 11, 2012, and will continue every Monday and Friday until the last day on June 8, 2012. The schedule is 4:30pm to 5:30pm at the NMC As Terlaje campus.
