Da Boyz played the role of Da sheriff as they nabbed the Outlaws, and the Eliminators flustered Fadang with a flurry of hits in continuation of the 2004 Men’s Island Wide Slow Pitch Softball League at the Oleai Sports Complex.

It was a special Monday night for Da Boyz as they won their first game of the season to move ahead of five teams in the standing with a record of 1-2. After busting out six runs in the first inning, Da Boyz added three in the second, seven in the third, and another tally in the fourth to finish off the Outlaws via the 10 run mercy rule.

Even more impressive than the 17 runs compiled is the fact that the Boyz of summer scored all of them the old fashioned way—no homers. They smacked 12 singles, three doubles, and a three-bagger. Tom Diaz led the charge going 3-for-3 with a trio of base knocks and a pair of ribbies, while teammate Mark Flores went 2-for-4 with a single, a triple, and three plate crossings.

It’s not always easy to cheer for the bad guys, but give credit to Roy Ada of the Outlaws. Ada scored on an inside the park homerun to help his team in the fourth inning. It’s too bad that the rest of his partners didn’t follow suit. The Outlaws weren’t helping themselves out by committing nine errors, but Da Boyz weren’t complaining.

The Eliminators weren’t either, but their power-hitting prowess was in question as they ventured into the top of the sixth inning up by just three runs against the winless Fadang. The Eliminators must have been watching the poker tournament on ESPN, because they were ahead 12-9, and then they raised themselves another 12.

The E-Team exploded with 12 unanswered runs off of 13 hits in the top of the sixth to dispatch any thoughts that the Fadang players were entertaining about a comeback. They only hit four homers in the entire game, but they cranked three of them in the sixth.

Leading the Eliminators was Roy Celis, who went 3-for-4 with a pair of singles, a double, a sac fly, and an RBI, while teammate Joe Palacios went 3-for-5 with a three ribbies, two single, a homer, and a partridge in a pair tree. Dennis Reyes pitched in perfection at the plate, going 3-for-3 a pair of base knocks, a double, two ribbies, three scores, and a walk.

The final game of the night was cancelled because the skies opened up upon Team Juan Santiago and Brotherhoot in the bottom of the first inning. The game will be rescheduled and replayed from scratch. Brotherhoot was leading TJS 8-6 with two outs in the bottom of the first.

Slow Pitch returns tomorrow night, and every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday starting with the first game at 6:30pm. The Fast Pitch hits the diamond at the same time on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
