The Rotary Club of Saipan has decided to postpone its signature annual fundraiser, Las Vegas Night.

Club secretary Laila Boyer said yesterday at the Rotary’s general membership meeting that the event, which was originally scheduled for May 5 for a Cinco de Mayo theme, has been moved to July after consideration of all necessary paperwork and other logistics issues.

Boyer noted that they plan to hold it on the second or third Saturday of July.

“We know July is vacation season but that’s why we want to announce it early so the public will be advised,” she added.

Boyer said the decision to move the event to summer is also timely so that the community will have another event to look forward to besides the Fourth of July festivities, which might ran for just a week instead of its usual monthlong celebration.

Rotarians will be selling the Las Vegas Night tickets for $5 per ticket or $20 per booklet for a chance to win a cash prize or a brand new car.

Proceeds from the event will go to the funds for the construction of a children’s playground in Kagman.
