Camacho commended by Municipal Council

The Eight Saipan and Northern Islands Municipal Council recently adopted a resolution recognizing, congratulating and commending Army Specialist Dewayne Deleon Guerrero Camacho for his courage, bravery and determination to uphold the U.S. Armed Forces’ goal to secure peace, freedom and democracy in Iraq.

According to Resolution No. 8SMC-3RS-011, the U.S. Armed Forces declared war against Iraq’s dictator Saddam Hussein to destroy weapons of mass destruction, to deter his acts of terrorism and for the people of Iraq to enjoy freedom, peace and democracy.

The resolution stated that many men and women in the U.S. Armed Forces were deployed in Iraq, Afghanistan and other dangerous posts to secure global peace, freedom and democracy.

The CNMI men and women in the U.S. Armed Forces who were wounded or killed in action in Iraq, Afghanistan and other dangerous posts were U.S. Army Sgt. Yinjyh “Eddie” Leng Chen, the first CNMI Casualty in Iraq; U.S. Army Sgt. William Ayuyu Sakisat, Jr., wounded in Afghanistan; U.S. Army Specialist 4 Monique Guerrero Sablan, wounded in Iraq; U.S. Marine Corps Lance Corporal Randy Takai Johnson, wounded in Iraq; U.S. Army Specialist Nazario San Nicolas Borja (Tinian), wounded in Iraq; U.S. Army Specialist Gregory Cabrera Cing (Tinian), wounded in Iraq; and U.S. Marine Corps Lance Corporal Dustin M. Pangelinan, wounded in Iraq.

The resolution further stated that Camacho was deployed in Iraq for a tour of duty from Jan. 2003 to Dec. 2003. While in Iraq, Camacho served as a Combat Engineer. He is the proud son of David Camacho and Mrs. Magdalena Cabrera Deleon Guerrero Camacho of Saipan.

The resolution concluded by saying that the members of the Municipal Council join the people of the CNMI in extending special recognition, congratulating and commending Camacho for safeguarding and protecting the lives of his fellow Americans.

The resolution was certified by chairman Gregorio V. Deleon Guerrero and vice chairman David A. Indalecio and attested by secretary Antonia M. Tudela.
