AMC lauds 2004 LibDay royal court
The 3rd CNMI Association of Municipal Councils Inc. recently adopted a series of commemorative resolutions congratulating 2004 Liberation Day Queen Leiana K. Ogumoro; Royal Princess Sweeda N. Glad; Heather O. Woodruff, first runner-up; princess Sheyvonne A. Maratita; princess Nadai B. Manglona; princess Sarah T. Igisaiar; princess Myla V. Capilitan; and princess Monarie R. Cabrera.
The resolutions were presented on July 2, 2004 at the Hafa Adai Beach Hotel in Garapan.
“The 2003 liberation day theme ‘strength in unity and diversity’ is not only appropriate but fitting in today’s society,” part of the resolutions read.
Every year on July 4, people of the Northern Mariana Islands celebrate freedom and democracy, commemorating their forbears’ release from the U.S. stockade at Camp Susupe after World War II and in observance of the nation’s Independence Day.
This year, the 2004 Liberation Day celebration was held in conjunction with the 60th anniversary of the Battles of Saipan and Tinian.
The 2004 Liberation Day parade was headed by Grand Marshall Mrs. Felicidad “Daling” Taman Ogumoro, a Carolinian and former congresswoman for Precinct III.
The 2004 Liberation Day celebration was under the leadership of Saipan Mayor Juan B. Tudela, chair Victorino S. Cepeda and his 2004 Liberation Day Committee.
“The members of the association extends special recognition, congratulation and commendation to the 2004 Liberation Day queen Leiana K. Ogumoro and her royal court and wish them the best as they represent the CNMI and its people,” the resolutions add.
The resolutions were certified by association president Gregorio V. Deleon Guerrero and vice president Jude U. Hofschneider and attested by secretary Mametto M. Ayuyu.
