The Marianas Visitors Authority announces the representation of the CNMI at the 2004 Pacific Flora Event, to be held in Hamamatsu, Japan from July 11-18, 2004. The Pacific Flora Event attracts more than 20 countries to exhibit cultural displays, indigenous plants, and destination attractions.

Sponsored by the Shizuoka Prefecture government of Japan, the 2004 Pacific Flora Event will feature participants from Japan, Korea, Thailand, India, and the CNMI and expects approximately 20,000 visitors daily. On weekends, during the period when the CNMI will be showcased, the event is expected to receive upwards of 25,000 visitors daily. The CNMI will display a flora exhibit, conduct a travel trade section for media and travel agents, and present a cultural program on stage to be viewed by an audience.

The cultural presentation on stage will showcase the Taga Dancers from Tinian with their interpretation of ancestral songs and dances. The cultural presentation was made possible through the generous support of the Office of the Mayor of Tinian and Aguigan.
