It’s almost July, and the monsters of the gridiron are set to meet again next week to discuss the upcoming fourth season for the Commonwealth Football League.

CFL board members and team representatives are called to meet next Tuesday night, July 6, at J’s Restaurant in Gualo Rai to discuss a variety of topics including dates, times, rule changes, equipment issues, practice schedules and the basic requirements need by each player.

According to CFL chairman of the board John S. Blanco, the season is still scheduled to start in about six weeks, with opening day on Saturday, August 14. Though the schedule is yet to be created, the approximate time for the games will be at 10:30am.

As a reminder, all teams are to have no fewer than 11 and no more than 50 players on their roster. In order for a player to participate in practice, they must submit their waivers and insurance forms. To participate in the first game, players must have their registration fee paid in full no later than Saturday, August 7.

“It’s a whole new ballgame this year. The championship’s definitely up for grabs,” said the CFL chairman.

If you are interested in getting more information about the CFL or becoming a player, contact Blanco by calling either 483-3517 or 288-2639.
