MAN CRASHES GOVT VEHICLE…

A 22-year-old man was arrested and detained last Saturday after crashing a government vehicle along Isa Drive in Papago.

According to Department of Public Safety public information officer Sgt. Thomas A. Blas Jr., the suspect, Mathew Yareoiuthepiy, is being charged with reckless driving, driving under the influence, and theft of vehicle for allegedly operating a government vehicle without authorization.

Blas said that preliminary investigation by Traffic Investigator Flor Establillo indicated that the crash occurred at about 7:58am while the car—a blue 1997 Mitsubishi Montero five-door wagon with license plate number GOVT 26-78—was traveling south on Isa Drive.

“As it went around the curve by the Crystal Water Co., the vehicle went off the roadway and struck a CUC power pole and then came to rest as it flipped onto its left side,” Blas said.

The vehicle sustained extensive damage to the left, right, and rear portion and was impounded by the DPS.

…AS ANOTHER CRASHES INTO TREES

A man was immediately brought and admitted to the Commonwealth Health Center after he was seriously hurt when his vehicle crashed into some trees last Sunday at Capitol Hill.

The man, 40-year-old Jahanig Alam, sustained lacerations and multiple fractures on his left arm.

According to Department of Public Safety public information officer Thomas A. Blas Jr., the vehicle was traveling up 16th Highway by the Deloitte and Touche area at about 7:02am when Alam lost control of the car, resulting in the vehicle going off the roadway. The car, a silver 1989 Nissan pickup with license plate number TEM 26-34, hit a flame tree and crashed into some tangan tangan trees before coming to a stop.

Traffic Investigator Flor Estabillo, the officer who investigated the accident, said in her report that wet weather conditions and road problems were factors in the cause of the crash.
