The Korean Presbyterian Church in Chinatown was filled Thursday evening with parents, teachers and staff to witness the graduation ceremonies for the Eucon International School.

The school graduated students in K5, Elementary, Junior High, and High School. Joining the graduates were several other students from each grade level. The school’s teachers, among them Theron Boyer, Ami Ridenour, Mary Hayden, William Massie, and Florita Cabanes, were present to give out the awards to students who achieved the President’s award, Principal award and Dean’s award from each grade.

Dr. Eddie Wang challenged the students to what he called “The Three Test,” comprising the three elements that the graduates need in order to succeed in life. “The three important things you need to have is knowledge, experience, and character,” said Wang.

Wang stressed the importance of having a good character, acknowledging it as the most important factor.

“A person may have all knowledge and experience, but without good character he is only a smart criminal and he will not benefit society at all,” said Wang.

Also taking the stage to share their thoughts were the 12th grade graduates. After the presentation of diplomas from their teacher, Floriata Cabanes, the graduates stood on stage to extend their thanks and share with the parents, teachers and staff the memories that they will carry with them.

Student Jake Johnston shared that, although the school mainly focus on ESL (English as a second language), he was able to learn a little Chinese and Korean.

The other graduates also shared the microphone in extending their gratitude to those who helped them throughout their school years.
