Eco Camp goes high tech
Mariana Eco Adventure Camp has partnered up with Verizon in a unique way: Camp staff will carry the newest camera telephones and will be able to e-mail pictures of campers to parents during the day.
“Parents want to know what their kids are doing; they want to know that they are safe, and that they are having fun. We thought this was a good way to keep parents in touch throughout the day, whether the kids are on field trips or the go-kart track. Parents will not only be able to call and check on kids, but e-mail, and receive email as well,” said camp director Keirsten Hess.
“Verizon is looking for fun new ways to showcase our new 3G Cellular phones,” said Verizon’s marketing manager Russ Quinn. “The camera phones we offer allow customers to take pictures and send them to any email address in the world. If I were a parent who had a child attending the Mariana Eco Adventure Camp, I would enjoy receiving an instantaneous photo of my child experiencing a great summer break, while I was at work or home.”
Located at the Mariana Resort and Spa, camp facilities include three swimming pools, a snorkeling beach, dive pool, golf course, go kart track, arts and crafts room, buffet lunch, baseball and soccer field, and more.
“We have always tried to innovate, to constantly improve our product and this is another way we can continue to develop Eco Camp into the top summer program in the region. Our registration process is on line, and we have instructors that speak English, Chamorro, Japanese, Tagalog, Palauan, and Korean, to better serve the wide range of nationalities that we serve,” according to camp organizers.
Eco Camp runs Monday through Friday in two-week sessions throughout the summer. Ages are from 4 to 13.
Special features include a pickup service, and buffet lunch option. Eco Camp is priced at $175 per two-week session.
Applications are available on-line at www.ecocamp.mp, the Mariana Resort and Spa, Gold’s Gym, or in customer’s Verizon phone bill.
