Funding available for possible TV programs
The Honolulu-based Pacific Islanders in Communications announces its Media Fund 2004 Open Call for proposals for programs intended for national public television. All genres are welcome including documentary, performance, narrative, animation, children’s or cultural/public affairs programming.
PIC is particularly interested in projects that examine and illuminate the indigenous Pacific Islander experience and bring untold stories to a broad American audience. The finished program must be PBS standard length of 26:46, 56:46, and 86:46.
PIC will award up to $50,000 for production and completion proposals. Research and development may receive up to $15,000. Applications are due by Friday, August 6, 2004.

Pacific Islanders in Communications is a national nonprofit media organization based in Honolulu, Hawaii. The mission of Pacific Islanders in Communications is to support, advance, and develop Pacific Island media content and talent that results in a deeper understanding of Pacific Island history, culture, and contemporary challenges which enhances public recognition of and appreciation for Pacific Islanders. They are mainly descendants of the first peoples of Hawaii, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, American Samoa and other Pacific Islands. Primary funding for PIC is provided by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.
